
EDWARDS, ARMISHAW NAMED OCAA ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

TORONTO - The following have been named Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) student-athletes of the week for the period ending Sunday, Jan. 22.
MALE: Jahmal Edwards, St. Lawrence-Kingston, Men's Basketball
A pair of double-doubles by first-year forward Jahmal Edwards (Kingston, Ont.) helped lift the St. Lawrence Vikings to a pair of victories. Edwards scored 17 points and added 13 rebounds in a 79-59 win over Fleming-Peterborough on Jan. 18. He scored another 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in a hard-fought 62-60 win over La Cite on Jan. 20. Edwards has scored 49 points in his last three games. St. Lawrence (8-4) has won five straight and sit in third place in the OCAA East region.
FEMALE: Jori Armishaw, Algonquin, Women's Volleyball
Third-year player Jori Armishaw (Ottawa) led Algonquin to a pair of home victories. Armishaw contributed 11 offensive points on seven kills, three service aces and one stuff block in a 3-1 (25-22, 19-25, 25-13, 26-24) win over Seneca. She then earned 10 points on eight kills and two aces in a 3-2 (12-25, 16-25, 27-25, 25-17, 15-7) comeback win over Georgian. Algonquin (10-4) has won seven straight, and have moved up to third place in the OCAA East region.
