
DONNAN, NYHOF NAMED OCAA ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

TORONTO - The following have been named Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) student-athletes of the week for the period ending Sunday, Jan. 15.
MALE: Kyle Donnan, Loyalist, Men's Volleyball
Fifth-year left side Kyle Donnan (Pickering, Ont.) set the all-time OCAA career record for kills on Jan. 15 against Boreal. Donnan's eight kills in a 3-2 (25-27, 25-19, 23-25, 25-21, 15-12) win gives him 724 for his career, surpassing the old record of 719 set by Redeemer's Ryan Talsma set in 2010. Donnan also led all players with nine kills in a 3-0 (26-24, 25-23, 25-22) win over Cambrian on Jan. 14. With two victories to begin 2012, Loyalist's record has improved to 6-4.
FEMALE: Kelly Nyhof, Humber, Women's Volleyball
Third-year middle Kelly Nyhof (Georgetown, Ont.) was a key contributer in a pair of Humber victories. Nyhof led all players with 20 points on 11 kills, five service aces and four stuff blocks in a 3-0 (25-22, 25-10, 25-13) sweep at Fanshawe on Jan. 12. Nyhof followed this up with a 13-point effort on 12 kills and one ace in a 3-0 (25-13, 25-23, 25-23) win over St. Clair on Jan. 15. Humber leads the OCAA West region with an 11-0 record.
